Karen Briner

SNOWIZE & SNITCH (Holiday House; Victor Rivas, illustrator)

Karen Briner grew up in South Africa, where she received a BA in English and Psychology from the University of Cape Town. She is the author of the middle grade novel CASSANDRA’S QUEST (Human & Rousseau, 2000) and wrote for the award-winning South African children’s animated television series Magic Cellar as well as the medical drama Jozi H, which she co-created. Her screenplay, Amanzi, won third prize in Final Draft’s Big Break contest. In 2013, Karen’s short story, “A Message from the Birds,” appeared in the Sunday Times Storytime compilation as part of the Nal’ibali literacy initiative. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband. Her new middle-grade novel, SNOWIZE & SNITCH, about a once-intrepid spy, a dignified rodent, and a girl with a perplexing past teaming up to find out who is draining the minds of great scientists of their knowledge, is illustrated by Victor Rivas and published by Holiday House.
